Minutolo is an autochthonous white grape variety typical of the very restricted area of Valle d'Itria.
This variety had been almost completely lost before our family promoted its rediscovery and requalification.
A vine very difficult to work, sensitive to some ampelopathies, not very productive, with a strong and unique aroma, a semi-aromatic vine whose presence in the area of Valle d'Itria dates back to ancient times. Old farmers preferred to uproot these plants in order to make room for varieties easier to care for and more productive.
It was generically called Fiano but it belongs to the Muscat family. It was our family to give a real and proper name to this precious and ancient vine. We called it Minutolo because of the small berries of which the bunch is composed.
Rampone is made from 100% Minutolo grapes.
It displays a straw yellow color pervaded by vivid greenish reflections. Intense bouquet, endowed with a distinct aroma, with strong floral fragrances of hawthorn, jasmine and wisteria, citrus fruits of lime, citron and green apple, and softer fruity notes such as yellow peach, mango, pineapple and exotic fruits in general.
Fresh, mineral, savory, balanced, with good acidity and an excellent predisposition to aging. Capable of giving exceptional performances with aging.
Rampone is a white wine which is excellent for fish, shellfish and seafood dishes.
